Cutter Head

Cutter Head

The Cutter Head is the powerful, mechanical excavation heart mounted at the very front of a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) ladder arm. Operating underwater, it rotates at high torque to aggressively cut, break up, and loosen consolidated seabed materials. By mechanical fracturing, it prepares a dense solid slurry that can be easily vacuumed up by the dredger's submerged suction pump.

Key Product Features

· Heavy-Duty Cast Steel Structure: Cast from premium, wear-resistant alloy steel (alloyed with manganese and chromium) to withstand massive impact forces and continuous abrasive wear.

· Interchangeable Tooth System: Features a heavy-duty adapter system with replaceable, quick-change cutter teeth (chisel or pick points), allowing fast site maintenance without welding.

· Optimized Blade Profile: Engineered with a specialized spiral blade curve (typically 5 or 6 blades) designed to smoothly guide broken sediment straight into the suction intake, maximizing solid mixture concentration.

· Multi-Lock Secure Adapters: Outfitted with robust, patented mechanical locking pins that securely hold cutter teeth in place during extreme high-torque reverse rotations.

· Custom Ring Back-Shield: Includes an integrated back-plate ring that prevents oversized rocks from falling behind the cutter and crushing the main suction pipeline.

Wide Application Scenarios

· Hard Clay & Silt Excavation: Cuts cleanly through sticky, high-cohesion clays and highly compacted river silts that hydraulic suction alone cannot move.

· Sand & Gravel Mining: Breaks up dense, tightly packed underwater gravel aggregates and commercial concrete sand deposits for deep-water mining.

· Coral Reef & Soft Rock Dredging: Pulverizes marine coral reefs, soft sandstone, shale, and weathered granite formations during new harbor creation.

· Capital Harbor Deepening: Used in heavy marine infrastructure projects to deepen commercial shipping channels and sea ports to accommodate mega-vessels.
